Although some of the great families fighting in the War of the Five Kings rely on thick and heavy armor, House Martell prefers mobility and mutual support of units on the battlefield. Martell spearmen wear only light armor on their desert robes so as not to overheat in their inhospitable native climate, while maintaining speed and agility. Their flagship weapons, spears, allow them to stop enemy cavalry charges. Thanks to their mobility and excellent training, they are always the backbone of Martell's combat troops.
